HVAC Tax Credits

Air Conditioning: Upgrading your central air conditioning can earn you up to $300 in tax credits. The equipment must meet certain requirements to be eligible and make sure to check the Manufacturer’s Certification Statement or consult with your contractor. Details can usually also be found on the manufacturer’s website.

Air Source Heat Pumps: Upgrading to air source heat pumps can also provide a tax credit up to $300. Heat pumps provide a more energy-efficient option in moderate climates like Berks County when compared with furnaces and air conditioners. Make sure to confirm to check the manufacturer’s website or confirm with your contractor that your equipment meets minimum requirements for the credit.

Furnace: Up to $150 in tax credits is available for upgrading your natural gas, propane, or oil furnace. A furnace operates by combusting fuel and air to create heat. Consult with your HVAC professional regarding minimum energy requirements.

Air Circulating Fan: Installing an advanced main air circulating fan may qualify for up to $50 in tax credits. It makes your home more efficient by blowing the heated air from the furnace through your duct system. To qualify, the fan must use no more than 2% of the furnace’s total energy.
